Yesterday Consul Arrius Nauta of Nova Roma issued an edict claiming to speak for the Cultus Deorum Romanorum and recognizing the Christian god as a Roman god and Christianity as a Roman religion. The edict was immediately vetoed by Tribunus Plebis Claudius Quadratus who demanded the issue to be submitted to the senate of Nova Roma first. It needs to be explained that not all members of the Nova Roma senate follow the CDR.

Why is this important, since it took place in Nova Roma?
It is important, because it affects the CDR as a whole. Now we have exactly the situation that I wanted to avoid. I suggested to form a common Collegium Pontificum of all Roman organizations, so that there is an institution that can speak for the CDR. The senate of Nova Roma is no such institution. Pontifex Petronius Dexter, the highest office holder of the CDR in Nova Roma, was not even consulted. This is like a coup against the CDR, non-cultores making decision for our religion. The first step should have been the establishment of a Collegium Pontificum that actually speaks for the CDR. The next step could have been a correspondence with the Romana Curia Ecclesiae Catholicae and the current Pontifex Maximus Franciscus.

The declaration of a mutual recognition of both religions is worthless, if the Roman Church does not show the same recognition towards us as we would show towards them. Cornelius Lentulus claims that a worshiper of the Roman gods can enter a church and salute the sacred symbols. Has this been authorized by the Church? Is there an official Epistula Encyclica that allows us Roman polytheists communion? I doubt so.

This announcement is null and void, because nobody involved in it has any authority to issue it. No institution of the CDR nor the Roman Catholic Church participated in it. They can speak for themselves, but not for the CDR or Christendom.

I support the intention and the goals of this announcement, but it has to be done according to the rules of the real world. First an institution that speaks for the CDR has to be established, then the Vatican has to be contacted, and only then a common announcement can be made together with a representative of the Roman Curia.

No way, I am totally againt the introduction of the Christian God in Cultus Deorum. He already have his own religion, the focus of CDR is the worship of the TRUE ROMAN GODS.

It is surely a tragic turn of events, and reinforces my believe, that a Cultus Deorum of the future must be free from "non-clergy", to pick up such a term. The affairs of the Cultus Deorum should be decided by Priests, not Politicians, otherwise political motivations of power would mislead the religious ideals.

I usually these days do not speak here much on religious matters, since forming my Schola Aetii kept me fully busy, and I wanted to have a corpus of enough writings to present a more coherent idea. I may, if desired, present the Schola Aetii to the Roman Republic to serve or at least offer a perspective in any shape or form desired. I hope the Roman Republic stays on the path to keep the development of the Religion seperate from any political motivations.
