According to the agreement with the consul, I have to announce the need to elect a number of officers of our Cultus. Although the fact of such elections is contrary to the spirit of the Mithraic community, however, I believe that this will be the lesser of two evils.

Under the direction of the Consul Curio, we must have a Fater Fatrum - the leader of the collegium. In my opinion, this is quite a long and important process, however, the circumstances by a consular edict, forced us to act hastily. According to our bylaws Fater Fatrum is elected by the Councilium Fatrum. Unfortunately we can not, as it was originally intended, because of the whim of this edict, afford to wait when will form the first local Mithraists communities who will be able to nominate their representatives (first Faters) to the governing body - Councilium Fatrum.

Thus, to choose the Fater Fatrum, we must first create Consilium Fatrum.

Taking into account the above, I am announcing the nomination of candidates to the Consilium Fatrum - who want to be a Fater. Admission requirements and procedure for the election you can see in the collegium baylows on the following link: http://romanrepublic.org/civitas/joint_ ... Mithrae/69.

Applications will be accepted until February 26, 2017. Applications must be placed in this subject no later than February 27, 2017.

Amendments (02/20/2017):

The purpose of these elections is the election of the members of the Consilium Patrum - Pater[s]. Consilium Patrum will take over the powers of the governing body of the collegium. Pater Paturm will be elected when the circumstances and the availability of appropriate candidate[s] would allow such a choice.

I want became an a Pater in Paters Concilium.

For me Mithraism is a faith what take my hearth (before met Mithraism, I think what I'm an a atheist).
I belive what serving to this God is a way of action. Roman spirit of expand its borders and creation. Way of giving energy of creation to world.

So educating and practicing Mithraism for me not in ceremonies and prays - it's in action of creating.
Currently I developing multilangual Mithraistic portal (it's almost ready, need finish some details), and from own funds pay for hosting services - it's my donation for Mithra.

It seems to me that I do not understand what is happening here. In my commets I wrote that I am not against for election of two leaders for collegium who will make administrative work in Collegium.
I have to say that I strongly disagree with election for Pater Patrum.
All who make some laws in our Republic have to read history and to be a bit into topic - please read something about Mithraism and then make the law.
There is gradual initiation in Mithraism - to become Pater is not a matter of two years. Every level of initiation has to be at least 6 months until 1 year (we do not know exactly how long it was in the past but logic and comparation with other cults says something like this)
Pater is a level of responsability and devotion - he is a person who practice Mithraism in his daily life, he is a person who knows the teaching of Mithraism and has a historical knowledge of the things and ideas.
So with all respect to our Republic - to make election now for Pater Latrim it is like a "joke".
Personaly I will be not a part and I will not support any Mithraism cult in Republic which is based on not historical ideas.
I can understand how Severus can feel himself is this situation. I feel the same.
But from my side I can say only this: or we will do Mithraic Cult in Republic according to historical ideas or let's do not do anything - better nothing than parody.

We only need the names of two caretakers who will be the go betweens for the cult and the republic. Nothing elaborate. Just two people the senate can go to for logistical matters.

I already wrote it two times - personaly I do not have any problem with two people who will be administrators of Collegium. And they can be ellected according the rules of our Republic.
But I will not support any idea of election of Pater Patrum. I already explained my point of view about this topic.
I do not claim that my ideas and understandning are the only true one and good one. No.
If other people here have no problem with election of Pater Patrum - they can do it - I will not participate in such thing.

I propose this compromise. After some research into this, I propose the Pater Consilium acts as a ruling body, with the two most senior members acting as leaders for outside administrative purposes. Senior here being those holding the highest initiation of the Mithraic path.

And then you guys can elect a Pater Patrum when that individual reaches the necessary initiation stage. Would this be acceptable?

Frater Severus - you have my full support.
I can not be Pater yet - in my Mithraic initiation I am not close to the grade of Pater. It will take few years until I will arrive to the grade of Pater.
I would like to suggest the candidate: Marcus Valerius Corvus. He is already Pater.

As I wrote - there are already Mithraic communities out of our Republic - so if there will be too much political pression on Mithraic Cult in our Republic then it can happened that Mithraism will be not more a part of this Republic.
