L. Aurelius Curio, can you explain me, why we need two heads in Mithra community? It is nonsense. I'm historian, and I see that what you do, you do wrong, so because of you we cannot create normal community because we must do what you want, not what we need. All what you will rich, we - sarmatians, just go out, because we - 2/3 of this community, so another four people can sit here on forum alone, and look how we develope Cultus Mithrae without Roman Republic, because Roman Republic make more rules and borders and give no help and capabilities.

Красс, дружище, я тоже не в восторге от сложившейся ситуации и этого эдикта, однако, это не повод для подобной экспрессии, я думаю, что, в конечном счете, авторы этого эдикта самостоятельно придут к понимаю его несостоятельности относительно исторической достоверности, однако, сейчас твоей прямотой дела не поправишь. Как ты видишь, у нас есть правовые механизмы решения данной ситуации, которыми мы воспользовались, полагаю, что ситуация разрешится положительным образом, так что нет повода для волнения.

We all have to understand one thing. There are already Mithraist communities out of our Republic. What we will do here will be not creation of Mithraist "Vatican".
Another thing - there are and there were some theological and practical differences among Mithraists in the past - some of them practiced pure Roman Mithraism and some of them practiced mix of Roman and Iranian Mithraism - all of them were present in historiacal Roman Republic. The same situation is also today.
The position of Pater Patrum is still not clear if it was one Pater Patrum for all Mithraists in Republic or this was valid for region or city. It seems that because of existence of differences among historical Mithraists there was not one Pater Patrum for all Mithraists in Republic.
Of course Mithraic Cult had its own laws and customs - so political Roman hierarchy was not part of it - even slave could be Pater - social and political status among Mithraists had no meaning. This should to be taken into consideration if we want to make Mithraic community in our Republic.
For sure also there are differences among Mithraists who are part of our Republic. This means that we have to find the way how to make it works - it should to be unity in plurality. Probably the most real thing which can work in our Repablic can be that every Mithraic movement in our Republic can have their own Pater Patrum chosen by the members of particular movement and then these Patres can create something like coucil of Patres in our Republic - this institution can work like "umbrella" for all Mithraists in our Republic. The council of Patres then can chose among themselves the Pater Patrum who will be like primus inter pares for Mithraists in our Republic.

And then we have the laws for working the Forum or Collegium here. Personaly I do not see any problem to have to leaders who will take care of administrative things of Forum or Collegium
This is my humble suggestion.

Excellent points, Laterensis. However many Pater Patrum you guys wish to have we are willing to leave up to you, internally as a group. All we ask is that you elect at least one to be in accordance with leadership requirements, and a backup administrative leader.

Laterensis, in many ways I agree with you. However, be aware that the era ALL interregional cults have difference, and sometimes very serious difference in itself. As is now known, even Yahweh was perceived in a certain period of time, several different territorial deities of the same name, which with time became one god - on the face of the process of unification of doctrine among the Semitic tribes. However, all religious movements, one way or another, eager to unify doctrine. Those are significant differences that were possible, the allowed and acceptable in the first centuries of our era, now that in the 21st century, it is simply impossible, because now, to eliminate contradictions is not necessary to convene the Ecumenical Council, and wait for years its decision, now the age of information technology, anyone can learn how things work in Mithraeum on the other end of the ground easily and immediately.
The suggested by you the heads of branches or regional communities is the Faters according to the system proposed by the current bylaws.

Lupus, this is not the bureaucracy, it is a consequence of how good intentions turn into a senseless fuss. In a couple of days the activity of this group has risen, but this activity did not bring absolutely no benefit to Cultus Mithrae - empty fuss.
