This morning, I got a little confused when I received an email asking me to validate the application of a citizen to become a member of the Collegium Peregrinatorum. Was I co-leader of the Collegium?!? After an edict, a veto, an intercessio and a withdrawal, I thought there will be new elections once the Senate had defined the Collegia. Well, I got it wrong and the Edictum Praeturae from C. Cispius Laevus (here: ) is still valid: it seems I’m co-leader of this Collegium.

If so and if no magistrate decides something else in the meantime, I’m going to prepare a draft of new bylaws and submit it to the members of the Collegium for approval.

As a reminder, this Collegium has been created for travelers who wants to share their experience and for people willing to travel and asking for tips and advices. I think it should also be open to discussions about ancient travelers and geography. If you have any idea for the Collegium, please let us know.

Congratulations to your appointment, magister!

I think this collegium can become extremely important for the Republic.
There was this idea of building a temple and a community center in Rome that could be visited by the citizens of our Republic andorganize courses and events.
This would require a huge investment first.

But their is an easier solution. We could use existing facilities. And here is were the Collegium Peregrinatorum comes in. The Collegium could act as a travel agency. It could organize one or two week courses, make deals with hotels and setup programs for visits of historical sites. There in a restaurant in Pompeii that offers food Roman style in a triclinium, i.e. you eat lying on a bed. This could be part of the program.
Furthermore visits including accommodation at the new temple in Sarmatia could be organized.
Acting as a travel agency this Collegium could become something really big.

I think I've already read something about this travel agency idea. It was maybe you...
Sounds to me quite ambitious but if we build a temple, we can certainly set up a travel agency!
Hopefully a few citizens of Rome and Sarmatia will join and help us.

We do not need to wait until we build our own temple. There are already temples there, a new one in Sarmatia and the ruins in Rome. We only need to organize trips for our citizens there. This is why we need a kind of travel agency.
If this collegium is supposed to do this, then we have to consider it in the bylaws. They need to be less democratic and more like a corporation.
