Salve Lupus,
No offense but the idea of a roman-themed hotel or guesthouse sounds to me a little cheesy. Especially in Rom. I would rather find a nice, clean and modern room and enjoy real artifacts and authentic old stones! Which is quite easy to find in Rom.
It reminds me a night we spent in Naxos some years ago. The house – a kind of greek-themed guesthouse – was full of marble and stucco (ground, wall, railing, statue, etc.). It was really too much.
I found 2 places where you can have such a room:
But I guess it’s also a question of taste. Last week end, we were in Rom for 4 days. Our room was small (no double king size beds), the bathroom was tiny (without marble) and we didn’t have any english, american or continental breakfast… I must admit that it’s not everyone’s liking but we did enjoy it! The room was clean and simple, and located in quiet little street. In the neighborhood we had one of the best bakeries in Rom (according to an Italian newspaper) where you can enjoy a true italian breakfast whenever you want, a few bars and restaurants frequented by Italians and only 10 min. walk away from the coliseum but far enough from the tourist concentration.
Vale,
