Mary Beard is a University of Cambridge Professor of Classics and a prolific writer on Roman history. I'm sure some of you are familiar with her books. Her latest is "SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome," published last year and now released in paperback. Last November Mary Beard appeared on "Fresh Air," a USA radio show, to discuss the book and some topics on Roman history. It's a fun listen.

"Fresh Air" podcast and transcript of the November 30, 2015, show, repeated last week: http://www.npr.org/2016/08/12/489646223 ... cient-rome
