Curule Aedile report for 2018

[Gaius Flavius Aetius]

To Senate and People of Rome,

I was elected and acted as Curule Aedile during 2018.

Listed below is what, in accordance with the Lex Curatorum: On the Curule Aediles, was part of my duties and how I performed my duties:

a. To organize the ludi Rei Publicae, ludi Romani, ludi Megalenses.

I wasn't provided with the necessary funds for the to accomplish these duties, and therefore, I couldn't carry out these responsibilities. Thus, I couldn't organize these events for reasons beyond my control.

b. To assist the praetor urbanus in organizing the Ludi Apollinares.

The praetor urbanus didn't organize Ludi Apollinares in 2019, so I didn't have the opportunity to assist him, so it wasn't possible to fulfill this responsibility.

c. To assist the consuls in organizing the Feriae Latinae.

The consuls didn't organize Feriae Latinae in 2019, and therefore, I didn't have the opportunity to assist consuls, so it wasn't possible to fulfill this duty.

d. To publish edicts as determined by law and on issues dealing with trade of denarii.

There was no such need. Also, I wasn't given access to the administrative section to monitor issues related to the trade of denarii.

e. Responsible for assisting the Aranearius in the maintenance of the official res publica website.

The Aranearius (webmaster) was absent during 2018, so I never had opportunity to assist him, so it wasn't possible to fulfill this responsibility.


f. To investigate and mediate complaints which are commercial in nature involving:societas, two private citizens, and elected magistrates without imperium

Nothing of the kind happened during the reporting period, so there was no need for an investigation and mediatiation.

g. To approve and revoke collegium status for citizen led groups.

Nothing of the kind happened during the reporting period, so there was no need for approving and revoking collegium status.

h. To monitor the trade of denarii within the res publica.

I was not given the technical opportunity to fulfill this responsibility. However, to the best of my ability, I monitored this direction, that is, I performed this responsibility as far as circumstances allowed me.

i. To help maintain the online public records the res publica.

In view of the previously mentioned reasons, there were no persons who needed my help and assistance, in view of which, for reasons beyond my control, I could not fulfill this obligation.

As you can see, I exemplarily fulfilled the responsibilities assigned to me, in strict accordance with the lex governing the activities of my magistratura. In this regard, I ask the Senate or other competent persons to consider my report and provide me with what is due, because, according to the Lex Curatorum: On the Curule Aediles, I have fulfilled my duties in full, i.e. «met expectations».
