Yesterday I was once again unable to access the forum for reply purposes, although I was able to read it. I kept getting 'incorrect user name' or 'incorrect password' messages even though I was signing in by the same method I always use.

Seneca, I am glad that you like my suggestions. As I mentioned to you privatim, I would like to change the rest of that clause to nominatives, and perhaps change some vocabulary i.e., usus colendus fovendus, litterae propagandae, …. institutio augenda, versiones in Latinum supplendae subveniendae; status publicus linguae Latinae advocandus et usus hortandus monendusque, etc.

Well, my exile continues, at least via the 'topic reply' mailings. Those keep telling me I am a bad girl and have used an incorrect user name, so I have to access the collegium name in the digest in order to get onto the forum. HAL is usurping his powers.

Our group seems quite small, or at least it was the last time I was able to check the membership, so perhaps we should go with at least three votes for any action. I would point out, however, that several of our local school boards, as well as some other government entities, have been downsized--and are unable to muster a quorum if two people are sick, out of town, unable to exit their homes when access is blocked by five feet of snow (parts of my area have had seven feet in a single day), etc., etc. Add for us computer breakdowns and ISP interruptions. I just read about a board of three members, only one of whom turned up for a scheduled meeting…I like your wording, Seneca, but perhaps five, even though I think there were only ten members when I checked, and at least one, Cassia, hath departed.

I am in agreement with the text as presented. Alas, any thoughts as to whether we should include an English translation? This will need to be approved by members and magistrates less familiar with Latin {sigh}.

I think most of the text is translated on the Collegium Philosophicum site; the areas where the Latinum one differs are few. We can get a translation if needed, but it is too hot here for humans to think, especially when their medical providers refuse to give them useful medications with no side effects and instead substitute those which (inter alia) turn one's brain to mush and very nearly follow the effects of the poison spindle encountered by Sleeping Beauty. I have to visit said party Friday, and hope she will do the right thing, not the ones the Hippokratic Oath forbids.

If someone can copy-paste the already-translated portions of the regula, I might be able to do the rest, but am preparing to drive to KY for a conference with a bunch of major European Latinists, where all proceedings will be in Latin, and have to get ready for that.

I agree with Horatia. Every member of this collegium, even students are supposed to be able to speak some Latin, at least to some degree. It can even be an exercisd for students, and they should not be given the answer sheet along with it.
An English translation is necessary however for submitting it to the aediles for review. After that it is not necessary anymore.
