Winter, doesn’t have to mean the end of growing your own produce. Instead of using soil or support material for your plants you can grow your own produce in your home year-round using water as a medium to provide all the needs of the plants through a water system. There are essential six different systems that can be used for this project:
>> Wick;
>> Deep-water culture (DWC);
>> Ebb-and-Flow;
>> Drip method;
>> Nutrient-Film Technique (NFT);
>> Aeroponics.
The article recommends to use of the Ebb-and-Flow System for the best home use.
>>> System:
Here, there is a picture diagram of the parts of the system and how they fit together. There is a detailed materials list which includes the tools necessary to put together required system. There are 8 specific steps to complete the project, and three photographs to complete the project. Unless otherwise noted, all materials are available at your local hardware store or on Amazon.
>>> Plants and Operation:
Again here is a complete materials list, three photographs and 7 detailed steps for the ideas necessary for the usage of various plants that can be used together and ideas for various variables used in the system.
>>> Harvest:
Here there are three steps which show you what to watch for during the growing period, harvesting your crops, and care of the system when the harvest is finished. Finally there is a list of advantages and drawbacks for each of the six types of Hydroponic Systems
If you are interested at all in this type of home project, I would recommend that you look over this detailed project. I would also ask that all members of the Veterani Collegium as to the desirability and usefullness of this kind of information. I also again call for the comments and suggestions of those citizens enrolled in this group.
