Salvete Omnes!
Ludi Piscatorii in honor of Tiberinus starts today. For those who are unaware, the Ludi Piscatorii is a time of celebration dedidated to Father Tiber (Tiberis Pater) and the fishermen who fished the waters of the Tiber River for food for themselves and their loved ones. The celebrations were overseen by the Praetor, just as I worked hand in hand with our esteemed Praetor Peregrinus, L. Curtius Philo, on these Ludi. All fish that were caught during these celebrations were sacrificed at Temple of Vulcan in honor of the god of fire.
In honor of these events, our Plebeian Tribune, G. Cassia Longina, has volunteered to host a competition for clothing design. It can be whatever you wish, but we are hoping to see as much ancient Roman garb as possible.
You must submit a sketch of your design to G. Cassia Longina, or by submitting it to this message here. G. Cassia Longina and M. Aquillius Brutus will judge it based on the overall design of the clothing. The winner will get their sketch made into that particular piece of clothing by G. Cassia Longina (she made my tunic and toga, so I can guarantee she does excellent work!). This is a great opportunity for anyone who doesn't have a tunic yet, or just wants a new one, to submit an entry in the hopes of winning a new tunic free of charge!
May the gods smile upon your efforts, one and all!
