Quintus Caecilius Metellus Postumianus, (b. 2739)Salvete Quiritibus, I am Quintus Caecilius Metellus Postumianus, the designated Retiarius of the Lacus Magni provincia. I was born in the month Iunius, two-thousand seven-hundred thirty-nine years from the founding of Roma, twelve years before the founding of Nova Roma, heir to the first. Let me begin, now, by speaking not about myself, but about my father, who I regard as the one man I look up to beyond anyone else. My father had always taught me to stand for what I feel is right, without regard to what opposition I may have, though I should too hear what my opposition had to say. I've always strove to live by this in all my endeavors, including dealing with the adversity I face because of my religion -- I was an ecclectic Wiccan from September of 2751 to sometime in mid-2756, majorly dormant, and particularly concerned with learning before practing. I am now the only serving Fetialis in Nova Roma. Too, my father taught me to seek out knowledge as far as I may. As my patron goddess is the good goddess Minerva, I do indeed actively seek wisdom wherever I may find it. And lastly, my father taught me to always proceed in my endeavors with caution (not heading in headstrung), but quite vigorously. I begin all my new undertakings with grave thought, and with a firm hand (though my voice gives otherwise), and with the speed of Mercurius but the thought of Minerva and Iuppiter. Such are my ways. As regards politics, I do intend to sue for the quaestorship, aedileship, praetorship, and consulship in the future, when the People ask for me. But we shall see what happens there when the time comes. Optime Valete in Pace Sui Aeterna,Q. Caec. Met. Post., Retiarius Lacuum Magnorum |
