Salve, unto the citizens of Nova Roma and Lacus Magni, I always begin my tale with my father. As a young man he dreamed of pursuing a higher education in history, he even managed to get a scholarship in basketball for college. The world event called World War II changed that for him. He served in the Italian Alps, North Africa and places in-between. Once home he gave up his dream and pursued another. As children we were taught that while my parents could guarantee our public education they could not promised past that. Thus we were taught to make the most of everything. His love of history filtered down to all of us. I took 2 years of Latin a great many years ago but had a wonderful teacher who ignited my passions in very constructive manner. While I was baffled by verbs I can still tell you how many braids are in a Vestal Virgin belt and still sing a snippet of the "12 days of " Christmas" in Latin. It is my passion to explore the basic and finer points of daily life from the most common man to the thoughts of greater men and warriors. I have been a member of Nova Roma since one year before our first Civil war. We have so much potential so much hope I cannot turn away. Nova Roma asks so little how can we not give what we can of our time and skills |
