Here in Vinnipega, the capitol of the Canadian portion of Transborealis Silva, we have an annual winter festival, the Festival du Voyageur. A long-standing tradition at the Festival is to have a snow-carving competition. This year I was delighted to see an entry by a team from Steinbach entitled "Colossal" which is described by the artists (Lyle Peters, Garry Funk, Jac & Seth Heinrich) as: "A partially carved Coliseum in Rome using the space remaining in the foreground to include a large Roman statue."

I had the joy of running into this stunning piece of winter art this past weekend:

I was chuffed to find some live Romanitas in my own backyard!
