CIRCENSES: Championship Race

Postby Lucius Livius Seneca » Mon Oct 23, 2017 3:59 am

L. Livius prae. circ. omnibus in Circo s.p.d

The chariots erupt from the carceres, jostling and jockeying for the best approach to the starting line!

The wily Greens take to the fore, with the lone Blue—Petrus—clinging to the outside lane. Artemon, the sole representative of the Albati, seems lost in the mix, but finds a clear path ahead, albeit in the bloodthirsty inside lane! How long his battered fillies hold up so close to the metae remains to be seen ...

A strong start by all at the start of this championship race!

Sponsors, please send me your actions for the round within the next twelve hours.

There's a flurry of activity at the lead of the race! Nestor barges ahead of everyone, forcing himself to the front line and pushing his teammate Kostas to the rear. Kostas curses aloud as his leap forward is unexpectedly cut short by Nestor. Green fans throughout the Circus are divided, cheering for their favorite chariot at the expense of the other!

Makarios, meanwhile, unexpectedly veers towards the spina! He takes command of the risky inside lane, sandwiching his opponent Artemon between himself and the charging Nestor.

Galen attempts to wedge himself past Artemon, but his horses shy away from the White's furiously churning wheels. The remaining charioteers—Diocles and Petrus—keep cautious eyes on the bustle around them, but hold a steady course forward.

P. S. A little audio immersion for our sponsors and spectators.

The charioteers seems to have found comfortable positions for themselves. The whole pack takes a steady course forward, all eyes on the metae looming ahead of them.

Only Nestor continues unabated, charging heedlessly ahead of the others, teammates and opponents alike! This hot-blooded Green seeks all the advantage his fillies can win for him, and as quickly as possible in this first lap of the championship race!

The Green tide surges ahead! Makarios recklessly veers away from the metae, looking to keep pace with his teammate Nestor who has opted for a more cautious approach. He manages to make it to the front of the race, but nevertheless takes a bad hit on the spina.

Behind, Galen takes advantage of the empty track ahead of him, surging past Artemon. Kostas follows his lead, keeping neck-and-neck with his fellow Prasinus! Green fans cheer wildly as their team pulls ahead to the fore!

Petrus is rattled a bit on the outer wall, but is going slow enough to spare his chariot any serious damage.

The Greens fan out across the track! Makarios spurs his horses ahead, trying to cut off Nestor's unchecked advance, but the leading Prasinus is traveling too fast out of the turn. Makarios not only finds himself lagging after Nestor's chariot, but is unexpectedly overtaken by Galen from behind! Outmaneuvered and thrown to the back of the race, Makarios violently curses his fellow charioteers.

With all eyes on the chaos at the front line, Kostas stealthily slips ahead of Diocles, swiftly creeping up on Nestor from his right flank!

The chariots are now forked, running the second half of this first lap in parallel ranks!

Makarios has his revenge! The slighted Green lashes his horses hard and they surge ahead to displace Galen, who now finds himself in the same position in which he had put his teammate. Their feuding, however, has let some distance grow between the two Greens and the front of the race.

Only Kostas, now, is keeping pace with Nestor, who swiftly rounds the next turn with skill and grace!

The Greens move through the final turn of the first lap like birds on the wing, chariots ducking and weaving in a dizzying dance of churning hooves and wheels! Nestor keeps a steady hand on the reins as he approaches the linea alba, but out of nowhere, Kostas barrels through the ranks! He heads straight for Nestor, forcing the calculating charioteer to hurl his horses into the outer lane to avoid a deadly collision. Kostas laughs triumphantly as he crosses the linea first to the uproarious cheers of his fans!

The embittered Makarios and Galen seem to have found an occasion for a truce, however, as both charioteers surge forward with coordinated precision. Galen keeps a straight course, holding to the second lane, while Makarios steers for the third not far behind. No one can doubt the young Green's skill as he maneuvers around the metae.

Facing a long, straight stretch of track as they enter the second lap, the leading Prasini all charge ahead without reserve! Green fans cheer wildly as their foremost charioteers hurtle towards the opposite end of the Circus in square formation!

At the back end of the track, Petrus and Diocles calmly round the turn in the outside lane. Artemon, however, who continues to linger in the second lane, overestimates his clearance of the metae, running his horses upon the deadly bronze! White fans groan with dismay for their lone chariot.

The Green quadrangle is taking off down the track and entering the first turn, but not without some controversy first!

Galen declares his truce with Makarios to be at an end, as he deftly steals his teammate's place in the second lane! Makarios once again finds himself cursing in the dusty wake of the wily Galen.

Kostas, still in the lead, takes strong command of the turn to his advantage!
