L. Livius prae. circ. omnibus in Circo sal.

Kostas and Makarios meet each others' eyes across the lanes. They share a knowing nod, and move into action. Makarios bolts ahead, his horses' hooves nipping at the rear of Archippos' chariot. Kostas, on the other hand, veers sharply towards the lone Albatus. The Prasini hover behind Archippos, like two green crocodiles descending on wounded prey. In the stands, Green supporters are tense with anticipation, while the Whites urge Archippos to stay ahead of the Prasini twins!

Behind the deadly charge ahead, Petrus whirls through the turn with the skill we are accustomed to see from the Venetus. Blue fans cheer their lone champion in the races!

The two Prasini, side-by-side, swoop down on Archippos. The lonely White has no choice but to retreat before the Green onslaught! Against all odds the Greens are now in the lead! Their supporters cheer wildly, but neither have the Whites given up hope for Archippos to recover. Still, the deadly metae looms ahead of them all, as the race enters its final lap ...

At the back of the race, Eonus learns a heavy lesson in bronze, as his chariot smashes through the turn, felling his mare.

With Archippos now long behind them, Kostas and Makarios begin to eye one another: the only rivals left are each other! Makarios lashes his reins with a cry, charging ahead of Kostas! Kostas moves more steadily while his teammate veers unsteadily through the turn. Their chariots collide, crippling Makarios' outermost horses, while Kostas continues to hold his reins firmly against the unexpected onslaught. As Makarios reels from the collision, Kostas manages to edge ahead of his fellow Prasinus. In the stands, the Green fans jeer one another; Kostas' supporters harass Makarios' for the deadly mistake!

Meanwhile, Archippos quietly rounds the metae in the second lane; an easy maneuver with the broad open spaces on either side of him.

The gap between the two Prasini and the rest of the chariots widens, as Kostas and Makarios take command of the third and final lap! Any hostility between the two Greens seems to have been set aside for the time being as both charioteers furiously lash at their horses for every ounce of speed they can squeeze from them. Pure swiftness seems to be the preferred tactic of the Greens for now ...

Far behind, Archippos crosses the linea alba, and Petrus is nearing the last turn of his second lap.

Makarios and Kostas are already rounding the first turn of the final lap! Kostas manages to keep his edge over his teammate in the outer, third lane. These two Greens look to be headed to the finish line without much competition—something we would never have guessed from the onset of this race!

Petrus, now finishing his second lap, also keeps up his speed, with no opposing charioteers to interfere with his steady course into the third lap.

Kostas and Makarios pull off some daring chariot-work in the turn! Masterfully weaving through one another's courses, the two charioteers switch lanes with each other. Still, side-by-side, neck-and-neck, they barrel towards the final turn before the finish line!

Across the track, the two Greens spot the lonely Eonus completing his second lap. It does not fare well for the Albatus, whose gelding trips up, and is crushed beneath the wheels of Eonus' chariot. His teammate Archippos is next to face the daunting metae ...

The Greens continue to charge ahead, and are nearly at the finish line! At this point, it's simply a race between Kostas and Makarios for the pride of first place. It looks like we'll be seeing both of these unpredictable charioteers in the championship! Greens in the stands joyfully cheer!

Archippos picks up some much needed speed in the turn, and with great skill too! His supporters in the Circus urge the leading White on towards the linea alba.

Kostas and Makarios enter the turn together. A sly nudge from Kostas' chariot, however, sends Makarios gliding uncontrollably in his lane! There is no hesitation on the part of Kostas, who quickly speeds towards the finish line while his fellow Prasinus struggles to regain control of his wounded horses! Kostas is nearly across the linea alba, but Makarios might still surprise us yet!

Kostas rounds the metae, headed straight for the finish line. Makarios, however, lashes his horses with everything he's got! He recovers well from his crash, pulling up nose-to-nose with Kostas' chariot, but cannot quite catch up with his teammate. The two Greens scream across the linea alba, Kostas outpacing Makarios by mere inches! The Greens have captured both first and second place in this race, sending their fans into ecstatic celebration!

Petrus rounds his penultimate turn with his accustomed skill, following behind Archippos towards the finish.

Lonely Eonus takes full command of the turn, free from any competition in the rear of the race. Meanwhile, Archippos and Petrus race through the last half of this lap towards the finish line!
