Great Tiberinus a wall has made
By power of steapest tide
Great Tiberinus foundation laid
To the warriors that hide

Etruscan hordes as pike forests high
And with shields that gleam like flames
Came to the river with evil eye
To achieve great wealth and fame

Down to the river, it's known, they said
Stood a man with virtue strong
He would not leave the bridge unguarded
Nor let them his fair Rome wrong

Fight he then gave them, fierce and rightious
As if Jove or Mars in ire
The bridge guarded fair Horatius
So that Rome be spared the fire

When the tiberine bridge was undone
The soldier was all but dead
Jumped he then to Oceanus' son
The river to land he led

Thus the great City found salvation
Thus was saved the Roman line
I do not know from many nations
Many stories true so fine

Crossing the Pons Aurelius,
half of the Tiber is green, half is brown...

The dew sitting in the Junipers,
are like hidden pearls.

The setting moon is reflected on the water,
like a mellified cake reflected in a half empty glass of Falernum wine.

Triumphs and laments echo from the walls of the sacred city;
spring is bright and delicate in the gentle breeze.

A clustering of apricot blossoms open,
no-one to own them; Vesta's temple open to all.

Every day I return to the river as drunk as I can be.
I have many debts for wine all over the place...

We're always told that passing time is always on the move,
so little time to know each other: we should never be apart, gentle Tiber.

Flow.

Flow free like the river.

Soar free like my soul.

Ascend free like the Gods.

Let your tongue freely flow,

to praise mighty Neptunus.

May the waters flow.

Like the fish in the sea,

Go along with the flow.

Free.
