Representing Consul L. Aurelius Curio,

The fifth session of the Comitia Centuriata is to be called to order starting on the 28th of Aprilis. All Roman Republic citizens are called to attend. This is a meeting called to ratify the laws and amendments last passed by the Senate of the Roman Republic.

Auspices will be taken by a Provisional Augur on the day of the Assembly.

The order of business is as follows:

I. Ratification of Amendment of LEX CURIATORUM: On the removal of senators from the senate
(SENATE DISCUSSION: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1617)

II. Ratification of LEX CURTIA-COMINIA: On automated denarii tax payments at the time of the annual census.
(SENATE DISCUSSION: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1616)

The session is to begin on Aprilis 28th, provided favourable auspices.

The debate phase will proceed from the 28th of Aprilis until the 6th of Maius.

Voting is scheduled to begin 6th of Maius and close on 17th of the same month.

Thus has been decided by our Consul.

If the Consul needs help with the backend of the election system I volunteer as Rogator. I created the election system, so I know how it works.

Brutus Augur Sal.

I have not witnessed Ex Caelo. I have witnessed Ex Auibus. Alites seen from the northeast. Alites seen in the form of cardinal which landed in the northeast corner of the auguraculum. Oscines heard from the south. I witnessed no Ex Diris.

Divine messengers for you and for Rome, established by this ordinance reported by Augur P. Iunius Brutus to Consul L. Aurelius Curio who took these auspices.

AVES ADMITTUNT for opening a meeting of the Comitia Centuriata and Senate on this day of IV Kal. Mai. L. Curtio L. Aurelio cos.

Curio Sal.

I thank Provisional Augur Brutus for taking these auspices on behalf of the Republic. I accept his assessment of the signs and declare this Comitia Centuriata session now open!

Debate shall take place from 28th of Aprilis until the 6th of Maius. After that we shall go into the voting phase, where all citizens may vote through the ballet that will be sent to your email attached to your Roman Republic account. This shall take place from 6th of Maius until the 17th of Maius. Reminder to everyone to not debate or vote on N days, as per the calendar, if you are a cultor.

The above items are the ones to be discussed during this meeting, and voted upon on the back end of the meeting. Quaestor Laenas shall serve as Rogator for this session of the Comitia Centuriata.

As is the tradition, I open this session of the Comitia Centuriata with the following ceremony which I conducted. May Iupiter, Iuno, Mars, Minerva, Quirinus, Concordia, and all the Gods and Goddesses favorable to the Roman people support this meeting and lend assistance towards a beneficial outcome.

Valete Bene!

Salvete Cives

The order of business with active links is as follows:

I. Ratification of Amendment of LEX CURIATORUM: On the removal of senators from the senate: (SENATE DISCUSSION: http://www.romanrepublic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1617)

II. Ratification of LEX CURTIA-COMINIA: On automated denarii tax payments at the time of the annual census.
(SENATE DISCUSSION: http://www.romanrepublic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1616)

These Leges were proposed by the Senate in Session IV.

A Tribune Report of the Senate Session IV proceeding can be viewed at:
http://www.romanrepublic.org/forum/download/file.php?id=639

The Public Discussion of Senate Session IV took place here:
http://www.romanrepublic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1604

This Comitia is opened for further discussion on these two leges and then to Ratify them by your vote. If they are ratified, they will become law.

Your further attention is requested as that we now have new Citizens who have joined since the time of Senate Session IV. Cives, this is your Republic, let your voice be heard.

I see the proposal about the removal of senators. How and when are senators selected?

Salve Messalla

The selection of Senators is described in LEX CURIATORUM: On the selection of new senators http://www.romanrepublic.org/forum/download/file.php?id=222.

This and the other laws of the Republic are under the 'Roman Republic' button accessed from the menu bar above -> 'Governance' -> 'Res Publica Laws'.
