This are very good arguments, Tusce! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you, a shared identity must be shared but I do not think a shared "authority" so-to-say. Maybe the mutual respect is all that a functioning republic requires? This is of course, far from the world we live in, - but maybe in a perfect world, like Plato's own idea of a "perfect republic" - it would work?
