SEMI-FINALS: RACE II

Postby Publius Iunius Brutus » Mon Mar 28, 2016 10:37 pm

Salvete!

I now present the last race of the semi-finals of the Ludi Rei Publicae! This race is predicted to be aggressive and evenly matched! We should expect a true duel between these aurigae!

The teams racing are:

Owner: Titus Flavius Severus | Faction: Russata | Auriga: Jalon
Owner:Lucius Curtius Philo | Faction: Russata | Auriga: Caturix
Owner: Marcus Livius Horatius | Faction: Albata | Auriga: Gershon

Let's recap the previous successes of these teams.

Severus', Jalon, of the Reds, is known as a conservative auriga, he tends to wait out behind the pack biding time until and opportunity presents. In the quarter-finals, such a strategy was effective as disaster struck for the more aggressive leading teams which crashed and did not finish the race. This propelled Jalon into a first place victory being the only driver with an intact chariot at the end of the race. If this race becomes overly aggressive look to see Jalon doing very well.

Philo's, Caturix, of the Reds, is one of the most aggressive teams in these games. Always entertaining, Caturix often appears to be half out of control during his laps. It is unclear if this is a strategy or simple recklessness. He has almost total disregard for his own personal safety and that of his fellow competitors. The quarter-finals involved a spectacular two team crash which was caused by Caturix ramming an opponent while whipping the opposing auriga with a viciousness rarely witnessed. Amazingly, Caturix survived this crash intact and unphased. Nevertheless, he still managed to destroy his chariot before the end of the race by repeatedly driving indiscriminately over the wreckage of this earlier accident. He finished second in the quarter-finals without his chariot by being dragged across the finish line. We notice his right arm has been bandaged since this accident. How bad are the injuries? Will this affect his driving today?

Horatius', Gershon, of the Whites, is one of the most balanced and experienced teams in these games. In he quarters-finals Gershon demonstrated his trademark abilities by out-manoeuvring more aggressive opponents and responding with well placed aggressive attacks. In a surprise turn of events, Gershon came in second during this quarter-finals race. During the last lap, his team seemed to run out of endurance and were overtaken. This has raised concerns about the age of the horses supported by his white faction. Can Gershon's experience make up for this possible deficit in endurance?

Expect this race to be aggressive and fast, the winner of this race will need to balance passion with strategic driving if they want to drive in the finals!

Congratulations to the winners in first and second place, they will move onto the finals!

Valete!
